First, there are two main parts of the immune system called the innate and adaptive responses. There are white blood cells (macrophages neutrophils…) that attack the virus when it gets into our body and this is almost an immediate response that is designed to turn on certain cells, attack the pathogen and provide barriers to keep the microbe from going throughout the whole body. That is the innate system.
If these first responder cells can’t fully mount an immune response, the body will signal antibodies to form so that the next time your body encounters a virus, it can respond more efficiently because it recognizes the virus, this is the adaptive part of the immune system and how vaccines work. They trigger your body to mount an immune response to a small amount of the pathogen however, our bodies will do this without a vaccine simply by exposure to a pathogen.
As you can see the human body has a highly sophisticated, well orchestrated system with many mechanisms to deal with bacteria, viruses, fungi and other pathogens. It is important to keep your immune system optimally functioning so that it is effective when it encounters a pathogen. The best way to do this is by eating nutrient dense foods such as fruits and vegetables. Juicing is a great way to get lots of nutrients quickly. Exercise and sleep are also vital to a strong immune system.
Remember that our immune boosting protocol,
especially if you are traveling is:
Best supplements to take when you start to feel symptoms are Vitamin D3, Zinc, and elderberry or Immunplus at a minimum. In addition to whatever works best for your family. As always, if you feel something coming on or will be traveling, it is a good idea to come in for a vitamin IV. See image below for dosing!

- Have a pulse oximeter to check oxygen levels at home. Call our office if oxygen is below 90.
- Other considerations: Quercetin 400mg and Melatonin 5mg at bedtime
- Concerned about blood clots? Nattokinase is the natural supplement we recommend!
- Come in for nutrient IV therapy (vit C, B vitamins, zinc, magnesium, B12) to help give your body the support it needs to fight off the virus! They are great for hydration too!
Remember! It is ideal to initiate treatment right away so please don’t wait to call us!
Finally, Viruses can take about 2 weeks to overcome, so be patient and allow your body the rest it needs to recover.
