What is the PRP Facial?

It’s essentially a regenerative therapy, which uses nothing but the patient’s own blood.

Platelets are tiny blood cells which play a crucial part in repairing damaged blood vessels and cells.

You could think of them as little powerhouses, which release proteins for growth when they come in contact with the body’s tissue.  

Those promoting PRP say it should:

• Improve the appearance of wrinkles, scars and stretch marks
• Rejuvenate the under-eye area
• Tighten stubborn open poors
• Plump and volumise any area (e.g. cheeks) where someone might otherwise gets fillers.

The improvement is gradual and results are cumulative. Usually a course of three to four treatments over four to six months are required, with a single top-up treatment once or twice a year.

The doctor will use your own blood growth factors which your body would normally use to heal damaged tissue.

To do this, a numbing cream is applied to the face, blood is drawn and then it takes about 15 minutes to process the blood. We then extract the platelets from the blood and put it into a syringe and it is injected into the face using a microneedling pen.  

This platelet-rich plasma improves the tone, texture and luminosity of the skin, as well as reducing pore size, and improving the fine crepey skin around the eyes.

We can go places with PRP that we can’t go with filler, for example, we can use the plasma around the eye area. The end result is a beautifully  face with a nice color and textural improvement. 

The whole procedure takes about 60-90 minutes with minimal downtime.
